[TW; 2013] Living in Taiwan Series | Keelung 基隆

A short half day trip to Keelung 基隆!

We bused to 樹林 Shulin Train Station, as we were living in New Taipei City. Alternatively you can take a train from Taipei Main Station.
I can't remember how long was the ride, most probably 30-40mins. Spectacular scenery during the train ride! I love taking Taiwan's trains; they never failed the disappoint me in terms of the scenery.

^^12 degrees in the rainy keelung!

^^The famous yellow duck happened the exhibit during our visit

^^Pom-pom (bathing) time for the duck!
The yellow duck was like an indictor how dirty Keelung air is; and there were like so many media stationing over there to filming it bathing. I guess we are lucky in the sense to witness this unusual bathing session, and even more lucky to at least had a glimpse of this yellow duck craze before it bursted 2days later.

There was a few "night markets" over there selling yellow duck merchandises. So we walked them before heading to the famous Keelung Miaokou Night Market 基隆廟口夜市!

Some must-eat-must-try foods:

1. 天婦羅 Tempura [Stall 16]

^^long queue even during rainy day

^^deep fried tempura served hot!
The tempura was really worth having in such cold weathers. Everything, from the sauce to the fish cakes and even the cucumbers, tasted just right. I dont mind queuing it again!

2. 鄭記

^^Fried Beehoon NT$30
We just wanted to have some main course before heading for some snacks again. Just normal fried beehoon, nothing special. And I dont know it is the rain and the crowd, the stall staffs were pretty angsty that day. Although they were not angsty towards us, but the atmosphere at the stall was abit awkward.

3. 天盛舖 營養三明治 Healthy/Nutritious Sandwich [Stall 58]

^^Just crowded with people and we cant even see the stall

^^Our queue number was 899 at 5:05pm; this shows how popular they are

Story: We wanted to give up queuing, cause there was like a few hundreds infront of us. But we decided to buy some drinks at 7-11 first and see how was the queue. At 7-11 we overheard Taiwanese mentioning how long did they waited for it the previous time and how worth it to wait for it. So we decided to be patient and we just aimlessly hanging around the stall. (laughs)

^^TADA! our patience paid off; after 45mins!

The best picture I could take of the sandwich. So delicious; deep fried bread with random ingredients! It's was filled with egg, cucumbers, ham and many more. Fried food is good food! A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOOD IN KEELUNG. If you dont try it in Keelung Night Market, you're really missing out this "healthy" and nutritious food!

As the crowd got even worse, so did the rain... and all the stalls were having long queues. So we left the night market at 6pm.
^^Yellow duck looks like horror duck with the spotlight

^^Yellow duck train
We wanted to take the yellow duck train back but.. it was so packed!!!

And this marks the end of our half day keelung trip!
