[TW; 2016] PART 2 - Kenting-Hengchun

Itinerary: Kaoshiung International Airport > Kenting Main Street 墾丁大街 > Sea Inn 濱海風情旅店 > Hengchun 恆春 > Zhongshan Old Street 中山老街

DAY TWO

After setting up our mobile network, asked the information counter on the bus to head for Kenting. And we were told it will set off within 2mins. So we rushed to the bus counter, told them the station we would like to alight, paid the tickets, and rushed over to the bus.
臨918 Bus Route, http://www.kia.gov.tw/Transportation/Airporttraffic/passenger1.htm,
NT$397/one way;
2.5 hours ride
The bus driver remembered the station we would like to alight, and called us to get ready to alight.

Things got abit messy after alighting as I did not do research on the route to walk over. But eventually we managed to find our accommodation!

Review: Loved the balcony bit and pieces, awesome sea view and the surroundings were very peaceful, not far from the main street too. The owners were very friendly and they gave good traveling advices for us who have no itinerary in mind. Do not mind to be back during off-peak season for such a good price.

The owner recommended us to go Hengchun for some food hunt. But we were feeling hungry, so stopped by 7-11 for a quick bite before catching the bus to Hengchun.

We were told to catch the bus at this bus stand. I can't remember what bus we took, we just asked every bus that passed by whether they were stopping by Hengchun.

I had this reader who shared with me his Kenting-Hengchun's experience. Many thanks to his tips, we decided not to cycle around Kenting, so we signed up for a half-day Kenting tour for the next morning at Hengchun Bus interchange.

After signing up for the tour, we walked towards the direction of the Zhongshan Old Street

And stopped by for this famous food in Hengchun:
柯記古早味綠豆饌, https://www.facebook.com/柯記古早味-綠豆饌-140746535995640;
NT$35-40/bowl

It is actually Tau Suan aka Split Mung Beans, just that Taiwan version adds in ice and small items like red bean, jellies etc to make the whole dessert much interesting.

After laughing at our ourselves ordering something that can be easily bought at Singapore, we roamed around the old streets.
This is the famous 西門 which appeared in the Taiwan movie Cape No. 7 海角七號.

Randomly walked around, and we found this small hill:
恆春猴洞山公園, http://guide.easytravel.com.tw/scenic/2742
It is a hill made up from coral reef, plus it was the home for apes and monkeys in the past. So glad we found this amazing place to capture hengchun's sun set!

As there were no street lights on the hill, we decided to climb down before the sky turns dark, on the way back, we saw this Egg Roll shop which seems to be rather famous around the area:
Yu JHN Siang 玉珍香餅店, www.siang.com.tw/;
NT$180/3 packets
The recommended favour is the spring onion egg roll!

We wanted to walk to the Natural Fire Park 20 mins away from the bus interchange, but then the wind were really strong that evening, thus we decided to head back to Kenting for the Night Market.

This marks our tiny impromptu journey at Hengchun!
